Will You be a Leader in Tough Times?

Will You be a Leader in Tough Times?

Wow -- There is a $900 Billion spending bill waiting for President Obama to sign right now. I still can't wrap my brain around this one. And, for that matter, neither can congress because appearantly none of them actually had the time to read through the 1,000 page document before voting on it!

Depending on who you listen to we are either in for some hard times....or some really hard times. Even the president says that this spending bill will not prevent difficult economic times in the near future.

This week's devotion deals with how Christian leaders need to respond when times are tough. Scripture calls us to be "lights" in the darkness -- not victims to the darkness. But if we are to lead, we need to make sure we have these four things in place.

  • Our Hearts - This is the core of who we are...what we stand for...what we believe in when all is stripped away. Is your heart truly aligned with God's will?
  • Our Heads - Do we understand scripture and God's calling on our lives? Could you explain your faith to somebody who is seeking answers?
  • Our Hands - Faith requires action. I'm not talking about being a part of a formal church-based ministry (though the youth group can always use some help!), but are you simply looking every day for opportuniites to reach out to those around you? And are you doing it?
  • Our Habits - Solid habits keep your tank full and your daily connection with Christ tight. I'm talking about daily quiet time, prayer, studying scripture, and being invovled with a group of believers.

These four H's form the core of a Christian. These four H's are critical not only for believers to SURVIVE tough times -- but to SHINE and draw others to Christ at all times!

(I must give credit for the 4 H's to the book "Lead Like Jesus Study Guide"
